One morning, Simon the snake wakes up and wonders what he could be when he’s grown up. As Simon explores a variety of possibilities, will he find the one that’s exactly right for him?

This board book for young readers, with its rhyming text and colorful illustrations, will delight young children as they learn that, like Simon, they can be anything they want to be, but being themselves is the best choice of all.

Highly recommended.

Not entirely appropriate for L just yet, so I'm not sure how much she'll like it when she gets a bit older. It's got some nice pictures, though, and is short enough to make it a good changing table read.

This is a great example of Fantasy because the snake makes himself into different shapes, and we know that this would never occur in real life. The use of voice in the story is mostly Simon speaking in first person, and some 3rd person author speaking toward the end. Simon the snake discovers the many possibilities about what he can be. He picks up trash and morphs into a Christmas tree. This is a great board book with fun illustrations done on canvas with paint. There is a simple beginning, middle and end plot in this story. First Simon poses the question, What can I be? Then he explores many possibilities of things he could be. The solution is that Simon should just be himself. This is a great rhyming story to encourage children to be themselves.… (plus d'informations)
