This is a beautiful book! Every page is a wonder to look at and enjoy! Also the story is so sweet. Bluebird missed the wind. While searching for it she discovers she can fly without it. In the end after a little adventure with dandelions, kites, grass, and balloons bluebird finds the wind, and her confidence too.

A lovely story, but it's the illustrations that take center stage -- stretched and intricate, wonderful.

The folk art style of this book’s illustrations are beautiful and they set the story off perfectly. The moon is tired of nothing happening when he is awake. He wants to see a day, just one. The sun promises that they can trade as long moon agrees it will be forever, and that it takes a night to really study its surroundings. The story is lovely and has a traditional “told” feeling rather than a “read” feeling.

This would be a lovely book great to talk about being grateful for what we have. Discussions of jealousy and contentment could follow. This would be a lovely read aloud. I adored the illustrations.
