This book is about a boy named Isamu, and he is very interested in nature. Throughout the story he questions about things why they are the way they are. At the end of the book, I learned that Isamu is an artist, and this was part of his childhood, being alone in nature. It was a little different, as I feel it did not really have a specific plot. I think this would be better for a little bit older children like 5th grade and could be used to teach that it is okay to go off and do your own thing and be alone but not lonely.… (plus d'informations)

This book would be good for primary students. This book is "A Boy Named Isamu" written and illustrated by James Yang and published in 2021. This book is about a story of the artist Isamu, but his perspective as a kid exploring the magic and creativity of the world. I tells about his real life in the back of it. I think this would be a good book for a read aloud when you are teaching about observations around you or maybe when teaching about what things remind you of and to teach about Asian culture a little bit.… (plus d'informations)

Cute. Simple story about curiosity and a connection to nature.

This book is an ode to Isamu, not a biography. If one reads this story, as a story, it is quite nice. It is about a child’s view of wonder. If one is reading it as a biography about the artist Isamu, one will be highly disappointed. As there is very little, almost nothing about the artist. This is all about how the artist viewed life. It’s an interesting read, but not one that readers would gravitate to over and over again.
