Dean C. Worcester

An excellent account by a member of the Philippine Commission of the situation in the Philippines between Filipinos and the American occupiers. While Worcester, by all modern accounts, is a racist and egotistical jerk, he does give great insight into how the government operated in the Philippines and what the colonial mindset was in the American administration. Once should not be surprised that this book was written in response To Blount's American Occupation of the Philippines, an enlightened book that takes to task almost every American official in the Philippines, the military, and the Government back at home. Later editions of Worcester's book include point by point refuting of Blount's assertions, but for a complete view of the times both books should be looked into.… (plus d'informations)
