Frida Kahlo was one of the most famous Mexican artists and in 1953 she became the first woman artist in Mexico to have her own show. She was married to fellow artist Diego Rivera. She always wore colorful, traditional Mexican dress. Despite suffering from polio and injuries from a bus accident, Frida created some of the most beautiful and intriguing art. Latino Biography Series for grades 6-9. The narration is good and captures the readers attention, although it is easy to capture my attention with Kahlo since she is my favorite artist. This is a detailed account of Frida Kahlo's life from childhood to her death. Photos and pictures are posted throughout the book, helping the reader relate to the images and events that occur in Kahlo's life. Through the narrative the reader is able to understand the meaning and the motivation behind her paintings.
