Short biography of Guy Carleton, with special emphasis upon his role as the British governor of Canada during the unsuccessful American invasion in the early stages of the Revolutionary War.

Interesting from a historical perspective, however the author's writing style is dated and often tedious.

Brief, well written account of the history of the most significant coastal fort in 18th century New France. The author paints an accurate and interesting picture of the fort's history and why it was so difficult to defend, ultimately leading to its capture once by the American colonials and later by the English during the Seven Year's War.

This short work on Wolfe has its moments. Early on, there is a good discussion of various reasons why England won, or France lost, the battle for Canada. Later, the author has an interesting account of Wolfe's famous victory over Montcalm on the Plains of Abraham outside Quebec. That said, as a general rule the author is verbose, sometimes stilted and occasionally simply boring.

A brief yet informative account of Montcalm's contribution to New France (present day Canada) during the French and Indian War with the English. While the author is clearly biased in favor of Montcalm, nonetheless it is interesting to learn of the many difficulties Montcalm faced, e.g., lack of support from France overseas, corrupt administration in New France and, of course, the English forces which ultimately prevailed.
