Irwin Winkler

Interesting look at the film industry from the point of view of a producer - getting financing and distribution as well as casting, script, director. And then the finance people may want one big name star over another. I also found it interesting that when Winkler first arrived at MGM, Louis B Mayer's office was still intact as if he was returning even though he had been gone for a long time. My only point of disagreement with Winkler, and I am among the few, is I feel, like Marlon Brando, Martin Scorsese, is overrated. I no longer bother to watch his films and feel sorry for someone who must have grown up in an atmosphere where every other word is a cuss word. I don't need or want to hear that.. Winkler's films of The Right Stuff, The Music Box, and Life as a House are so much more watchable than Raging Bull, The Wolf of Wall Street, and others.… (plus d'informations)
