uufnn | 3 autres critiques | Oct 3, 2018 | Clear directions for scores of safe and easy-to-perform experiments teach kids principles of physics, chemistry, meteorology, astronomy, geology, and the life sciences. A small sample of the book's experiments include-- testing various foods for their starch content, and in the process discovering a method for making invisible ink; understanding the physical properties of air by constructing a kite, a miniature windmill, and a paper airplane; forecasting the weather by constructing a home-made barometer from objects that are easy to find around the house; creating a perfectly safe electric current, using just a fresh lemon, a paperclip, and a piece of copper wire. These and many more experiments are presented with guidelines for budding scientists, safety rules to remember and follow, and simple advice on thinking and asking questions like a scientist.… (plus d'informations)

wichitafriendsschool | 3 autres critiques | Jul 14, 2016 | "Authentic, safe scientific experiments kids can perform." This reference for elementary school children and their parents and teachers offers more than 200 simple science experiments, using household items and inexpensive materials to discover many scientific facts. Major sections include plants and how they grow, insects and animals in their habitats, preserving our global environment, the nature of sound, the nature of light, chemistry, physics, astronomy, weather, and human anatomy. Tips for parents and teachers at the end of the book give suggestions to encourage young people to experiment and have fun, while learning about the world and how real things work. Highly recommended for children in elementary school: experiments range from very simple to open-ended and more complex, suitable for kindergarten up to at least grade six.… (plus d'informations)
