A quick, easy read--less than 300 pages. For being a Harlequin Romance book, it seemed to lack the love/sex scenes that other books have. It was a little slow to start, but good nonetheless. There didn't seem to be as much suspense as I thought there would be, it was mostly inner turmoil from Destiny and Kadenshar, and I'm used to Harlequin books with a paranormal storyline having adventure and suspense--getting chased, fight scenes, etc. In this respect I was slightly disappointed.

At the beginning, Destiny seems weak and it's hard to root for her as our heroine. No one likes to read about weak women that can hardly take care of themselves. But after Kadenshar shows up and we start seeing the connection between them, we see Destiny get stronger, more confident, and assertive. She becomes a woman we can like and hope to emulate.

Overall, the book was good. It was a quick read, worth spending a couple days on. If you like romance novels, then I'd recommend it and say go ahead and put it on your To Read List. I would have given it four stars, except the excitement level was kind of low.

These were adorable. I loved each story. I want love like this. I guess I'll have to settle for only reading it for now though.

American schoolteacher Grace Fairmont (who's 26) takes a trip to the UK in search of her late mother's family. Grace's father recently gave Grace her mother's journal and she wants to learn all she can about her mother, who (she was told) was killed by a drunk driver when Grace was just a baby. Unknown to Grace her father has hired a private investigator, Bobby Finn, to follow Grace and make sure she's safe. Bobby resents this lowly assignment but since he jeopardized the last case he was working on he is sent back to London as "punishment" and now he has to follow Grace around for two weeks.

As Bobby follows her she boards a train to Edinburgh. While on the train Grace ends up being mugged and robbed, with her money, credit cards, and locket with her mother's picture in it stolen. Bobby finds her locked in the bathroom of the train, bound and gagged, and tries to help her out. He eventually levels with her and tells her that her father sent him to look out for her, sort of like a bodyguard. Along the way they discover that Grace's mother wasn't all that she appeared to be.

The storyline was good but the main couple was just OK. Grace had some TSTL moments and Bobby did such a poor job as her "bodyguard" Grace may as well not have had one.

This was an OK read with a nice UK setting.

I liked the first story "The Wife Project". The other stories did not hold my interest. They were really short and there was no real since of getting to know the characters.
