Junket is an Airedale with a highly evolved vocabulary and a fixed daily schedule. Farm chores must be done, after all. Eggs must be gathered, cows milked, kittens corralled: imagine Junket's shock when he comes happily home to find... no pony, no cow, no chickens, no geese, no pigs, no Miss Milliken and kittens - no family! Instead, he finds a new family. The children, and even their artistic mother, are happy enough to cooperate with Junket's gradual retrieval of the farm's animals. Mr. McDonegal, however, is not so accommodating: "Positively no animals!" is his motto.

Imagine Jimmy Stewart as Mr. McDonegal in one of those old Disney movies where you just know everything is going to come right in the end. Mrs. McDonegal's "pink" painting is lovely, as well. A heartwarming traditional tale that may have been written in the 50s, but somehow isn't as dated as it might be.
