If you are in a room, and look up and see your own feet in the next room above, and your head below in one room down, and images of yourself in each room on all sides - then you are in a 3-dimensional torus.

Jeffrey Weeks wanted to convey what it is like to live inside different topologies. And he succeeds with this both rigorous and accessible book.
