This book is written using the best collaborations of many child educators. It is to help the professional working with children in a library or education setting plan activities that involve children in various parts of the globe. There are books, stories, and many activities to help do this. It presents affordable and interesting ideas for children to use. It is tactile. This reviewer longs for more information about the cultural similarities and differences that children find in their world – and the issue of child development, both older and younger, often gets in the way of what is being proposed to do. Some of the chapters don’t cover cultural nuances that are especially important to that country. For instance, in the US chapter (13) many of the tribes in some areas of the US aren’t mentioned and the rattlesnake story needs much more explanation and understanding where it is appropriate and with what age it should be used. Some of the graphics aren’t true to cultures either –dress if various cultures needs more work. Additionally, wouldn’t it be appropriate for any age child to explore some of this information online? Weekly sessions for these lessons? What about curriculum? Definitely more public library than school. Not recommended.… (plus d'informations)
