I liked this story set in India in the Victorian age. The first half was marginally better than the second half. Enjoyable portrait of colorful India. The author made it fairly menacing and the hero and heroine both wanted to leave.

I enjoyed learning something about the opal jewel called the Burning of Troy which had once belonged to Empress Josephine. I went and checked it out further on line. It's always fun to see factual tidbits in a novel.

I felt that there were several opportunities to ramp up the angst factor that the author skipped over which I know is really only me and my love of angst that makes that in anyway a problem.

My emotions were however engaged throughout most of the book, especially in the middle where the poor girl was being coerced into marrying the hero who was totally being an asshat. You could just feel her frustration. True to the times in the way that women many times had no real power in their lives in previous ages.

I got this as a free Kindle read and will be looking up more by this author.

Interesting read. Kind of went some difficult places. It is basically the story of two different women getting the wrong baby daddy because of a mix up at the fertility clinic. Chaos ensues. I liked the hero particularly. The heroine was okay but she irked me at times. I was kind of looking for a story of a mistaken pregnancy and how the two parents to be handled it and how they came together. I was looking for a romance after all. Pretty well written, it moved right along and the plot made sense.… (plus d'informations)

DESCRIPTION: A SIMPLE PROCEDURE WITH MONUMENTAL CONSEQUENCES...
Grace Templeton thought the child she'd been carrying for seven months was the child of her dead husband. Jack Hansen thought the sperm he'd donated had gone to the wife of his sterile twin. And then they learn the vials of sperm at the fertility clinic were accidentally switched. The shock sends Grace into early labor, and the only place she can have complete bed rest is at the Dancing Moon Ranch, a working guest ranch owned by Jack and his twin. But soon, Grace finds herself falling in love with a hard-edged cowboy who wants to micromanage her life, now that she's carrying his son. But Jack has his reasons. He also has no intention of marrying, and Grace is determined to learn why.… (plus d'informations)

This was the first book I have read from Patricia Watters, and I found I really enjoyed her writing style. The story, though, seemed to be a little disjointed for my taste. The premise of the pioneer woman coming from back east to start a Newspaper is an interesting take, and I liked the fact that her main heroine was not your typical young, beautiful heroine. I liked her personality as an older "spinster", as she called herself. As the story progressed, I liked how the characters grew, but the whole ordeal with the cattlemen and the way it was resolved was too neat, too easily reconciled. The writing was well, but towards the end of the book the storyline was a little difficult to follow.… (plus d'informations)
