Super faszinierend.
Dieser Comic ist lohnenswert. Die Zeichnungen sind super cool, die Farbgebung und der ganze Aufbau - finde ich einfach echt klasse! Diese Zeitsprünge in der Erzählung sind echt gut gemacht, so erlebt man immer wieder Sequenzen in denen Menschen über etwas länger zurückliegende Ereignisse mit Newton sprechen, beziehungsweise dazu befragt werden, die entsprechend Szenen mit Newton einleiten.

Die Story ist spannend und ich persönlich kann auf jeden Fall behaupten, dass man den Comic bestenfalls am Stück durchliest. Zum einen geht es einfach wirklich flüssig zu lesen und es fesselt auch genug, sodass man eh nicht aufhören mag, zum anderen würde man sonst sicher irgendwann den Faden verlieren. Es ist alles miteinander verknüpft, kann zwischendurch aber auch etwas verwirren, finde ich.

Das Design der Charaktere, aber auch generell, ist wie gesagt echt toll gemacht und passt ganz offensichtlich perfekt zum Film - auch wenn ich diesen nicht kenne. Das macht aber gar nichts, denn im Anschluss des Comics bekommt man nicht nur Einblicke, wie hier vom Skript zur fertigen Seite gearbeitet wurde, sondern zusätzlich auch noch einen spannenden Einblick zum Filmdreh und hinter die Kulissen - samt Fotos von damals!

Ich für meinen Teil bin jetzt jedenfalls wirklich neugierig auf den Film und die dazugehörige Buchvorlage. Es macht einfach einen faszinierenden Eindruck, und ich habe das Gefühl, dass einem vielleicht ein wenig was entgeht, wenn man nicht das gesamte Spektrum dieser Geschichte kennt. Der Comic funktioniert natürlich wunderbar und er bietet einen sehr guten und klaren Eindruck, aber Film und Buch haben ja nochmal andere Tiefe und Länge!

Nach dem Comic finde ich David Bowie jedenfalls einen perfekten Thomas Newton. Er passt echt verdammt gut auf die Rolle - andererseits mag es vielleicht auch daran liegen, wie Newton im Comic gezeichnet wird, immerhin diente hier der Film als Vorlage - da sollte es nicht wundern, dass man Newton und Bowie gut in Verbindung bringen kann. I'm honestly wavering between 3.5 stars or 4 stars for this one. I'll be fully honest, I mostly wanted to read this because the blurb for it said it's going to become a movie from Taika Waititi. That means this graphic novel HAS to be something interesting, right? A tentative yes. I have never read anything else in the "The Incal" series, so I was fairly confused by everything. It drops you right in, and it feels a bit like you started the second movie in a trilogy without ever having watched the first one. The story was pretty interesting and engaging, though there were elements of it that confused me slightly. Such as how the past and the future became connected for that one moment, and why Kaimann is so obsessive over Aurora. Even though I was confused about those plot points for the entire read, this still was an enjoyable story. The characters are interesting, though I found Aurora to be far more compelling of a character than Kaimann. I also liked the ending more than I thought I would. This novel would make an excellent movie, so I'm glad it will become one!… (plus d'informations)

I've read quite a few anniversary specials now and this has to be the worst one to date for me. It wasn't that it included so many characters (I love all the characters of Aquaman), it was that many of the stories were completely lacking plot, feeling and more importantly relevance. Too many times the writers were trying to be "artsy" rather than just write a story about the characters. It's a shame because some of them had absolutely stunning artwork, 'The Rhine Maidens' particularly springs to mind, and zero plot.
