The narrators are not great.
May or may not come back to it someday.

I likes this book, just as I liked the rest of the series- but I never loved any of them. The overlying theme seems to be "miscommunication." That's well and good in small doses, but after a while, one just wants to take the main characters by the shoulders and shake them vigorously whilst shouting, "Sit down and talk it out, by golly!" I mean, everyone usually sorts everything out, thankfully, but the journey there felt repetitive particularly in this book. Sophie and West have been pining for each other for SEVEN YEARS. I have doubts about how they managed to step around their issues for so long.

Still, this book was not without its romantic moments and bits of humor which I do appreciate. It may never be one of my favorite books or series, but I would read more from Martha Waters in the future.

This book was won in a Goodreads Giveaway, but this is my honest opinion.

Second chances—possibly!

Second chance romance that has a history of endless possibilities, tragic circumstances and being blackmailed by a Duke.
Sophie, Lady Fitzwilliam Bridewell had given up the man she’d loved to protect her sisters. Drunk and despairing her almost fiancé, West, the Marquess of Weston, had been involved in a curricula race that had ended in tragedy.
Now seven years later, a widow, and it seems Sophie is still trying to give her remaining widowed sister an HEA at the cost of her own happiness.
When West walks back into her life, Sophie decides to embroil him in a mad scheme, only to face the wrath of West’s father the Duke once again.
Will history repeat itself?
A pleasant Regency Romance, if not a tad absurd at times.

An Atria Books ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.
