I rather thought we were somewhat past having the Heroines be 18 in romances when the guy is rather older.

Whatever. Be that as it may the real issue I have here is that from page 316 until page 326 its basically one ex machina after another.

Oh we can't be together because my brother is heartless and does not believe in love! (About that he does want you happy but...)

Oh breaking my engagement to this King means out country will fall to ruin, RUIN I SAY. (Nah let me marry him instead)

Oh but my sister will not be happy! (Actually I will be, we get along fine)

OH DEAREST WE CAN MARRY AFTER 300 PAGES OF BELIEVING OTHERWISE FOR APPARENTLY NO REAL REASON.

So basically, nah brah this ain't for me.

The heroine of TEMPTED BY HIS KISS is a sometimes frustrating blend of level-headed maturity and naivety that begins as charming, then slowly becomes tiresome. Margaret Amberley, Meg for short, is quite enjoyable to read about as long as the hero, Cade Byron, doesn’t befuddle her senses. Cade Byron, not related to that Byron at all, isn’t so bad either, as long as he isn’t thinking about his actions too deeply.

Their romance is sometimes awkward to fathom. Cade is stuck in the past, stubbornly determined to stay there even though it gives him nothing but pain, and Meg is content to let him make all the first moves, convinced that every time he does, he’s toying with her. Neither one is particularly good with expressing their feelings and both act as if the world would end if they did.

The surrounding cast of characters are lively and given enough development and meaning to justify future books that may feature them prominently. I would have liked to know a bit more about Cade’s younger sister Mallory—she wanders in and out of Meg’s world to be support for Meg—but I hope that a future book might enlighten us as to her particular future.

There is some content that caused me to squirm a little—not any of the romance scenes—but some flashbacks from Cade’s (rather horrific) past tragedy. Nothing overly explicit, but the imagery leaves its mark for certain.

All in all, I do look forward to the next Byron novel and did enjoy the fact that neither the hero nor the heroine gets off lightly for their ridiculous behavior and antics.

Lily Bainbridge, is desperate to escape a arranged marriage. So she fakes her death, to escape her step father and his schemes, and dresses as a boy until she gets to London. On her way, she meets Ethan, the Marquis of Vessey, a man who tempts her in a way she has never been tempted before. But she manages to resist him until she gets to London. Then she receives her inheritance, and poses as a widow, to escape detection from her past. But then she comes across Ethan once again, and soon she can't resist his charm or rakish ways, and gives into temptation, to be his lover. At first she is afraid that he will break her heart, but she can't seem to stop being with him...he makes her feel passion and desire, and she feels more alive than ever. The Accidental Mistress is the second book in the trilogy, and what a sweet story this one is. Not my favorite by the author, but still quite enjoyable. I really loved seeing this couple together, and its the type of story that you can just enjoy on a calm day, and I loved the style of this author once again....she has astounded me with her writing. I just can't seem to resist her books...each and every one is charming and this story was beyond delectable. I had fun with Ethan....such a bad boy he is....but sweet and tender too. He may be a rake of the highest order, but he also is soft as a marshmallow when it comes to Lily. A story to impress and delight you...and keep you coming back for more!! UTTERLY CHARMING!!… (plus d'informations)
