The presuppositions of this book are rooted in social and religious pluralism. The bases of the book is that no one culture is better than another. However, Henry Van Til correctly observed that “culture is religion externalized.” By this, he meant that the culture of a people reflects their true religious priorities. How a culture approaches music will reflect the heart of the culture which created it. I believe that Christian culture is the highest ideal, though it has never been perfectly attained. This book assumes that the Christian approach to music is narrow and confined. The author also asserts that racism drives the European's and American's attitude toward African music. The author does clearly articulates the descriptions of African instruments and the influence of music in African life.… (plus d'informations)
