Hard Breaker (Gargoyles #6) by Christine Warren is just up my alley. I have been on such a Paranormal Romance kick that this was a great way to continue. Thank you to NetGalley, Christine Warren and St. Martins press for my arc of this book it was a great read.
First off I want to let everyone know that this is the sixth book in the series and after reading this one I recommend that everyone read the entire series I know I will.
Baen and Ivy are an awesome couple, I find Ivy entertaining as a character and very realistic, she really made me laugh. The story and the wardens were well developed and it was very fast paced. Baen is the ideal Hero He’s rough and tough yet gentle ad affectionate and really cares for Ivy. I feel like making a world where women are needed to wake up Gardens to save the world was genius that does not count out Drum and Ash who I mention because I loved. The description of the demons was flawless making the final battle fantastic to read I know the book comes out at the end of the month but go pick it up it is awesome!

I'm literally only giving this two stars because Molly is pretty cool and Marjory is pretty cool.

This book was something of a physically painful experience in why I stopped reading the vast majority of paranormal romance.

Alpha-hole who fights the mating urge to a hot seven seconds - basically just long enough for Barely Sufficient Heroine to doubt he wants anything to do with her forever.

Barely Sufficient Heroine who questions why Alpha-hole isn't saying he loves her or talks to her about serious things even after learning her stalker is his deceased mate's half brother.

Overly convenient plot moments. Barely Sufficient Heroine needs to be attacked - contrive a reason why she's not with Alpha-hole so he has to save her and acknowledge their mating. Even if that contrived reason is completely invalidated three pages after being introduced.

INSTA LOVE JUST ADD MATE. Like Barely Sufficient Heroine is barely safe after months of being stalked and harrassed...but oh man she can't stop thinking about herate that is doing everything short of kicking her out to make her feel unwelcome.

So unwelcome she figures it's safer to leave the safety of his home.

When there's five deranged shifters just waiting for a chance to mess her up. I can't stress that enough.

In short this did not work for me.

Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale
4 Stars

When her editor asks her to investigate a series of "elf" sightings, Corrine D’Alessandro immediately suspects that one of the "Others" is the culprit. She soon finds herself teaming up with Lucifer "Luc" Macanaw, Captain of the Fae Queen's guard, on the trail of a wayward fae whose careless actions may start an interdimensional war.

Warren finally seems to have found her groove with these expanded and re-released novellas. To begin with, the lackluster world-building of the previous installments is finally resolved with more explanations on the connection between the Fae and human worlds and the function of the Council of Others.

Luc and Corrine's romance is fun. They initially rub each other the wrong way, and their banter is snarky and entertaining. Their chemistry deepens as they work together and there is thankfully very little angst over Luc's secret -Corrine is his heart's mate. Warren handles this trope well as it is clear by the reveal that Luc and Corrine's feelings go beyond physical attraction.

The suspense plot focusing on the search for Queen Mab's reckless nephew is well-developed and the revelation of the villain is actually quite a surprise even though, in hindsight, there are sufficient clues. So, kudos to Warren for the twist

In sum, this is definitely the best in the series so far and begins to show the promise of the later books. Kate Reading's narration of the audiobook is excellent as she a broad vocal range for both the male and female characters. I will definitely be listening to the rest.
