This is a perfectly written short story of an alternative Little Red Riding Hood. I received this as a LibraryThing Member GiveAway. Thank you.

This is an interesting short story about a young girl, Voroza, who lives with her grandmother in the woods. She falls in love with Juri, a boy from the nearby village, but her grandmother forbids her to see Juri or spend time with any of the villagers. Voroza’s grandmother claims they are of noble breeding, but doesn’t explain anything more about where Voroza is from.

Voroza is desperate to see Juri, however, and this desperation leads to extreme consequences. Vorenza must then learn to live a life she is unprepared for.

Vorenza is at times a petulant teenager who makes you sympathize with her grandmother and the challenge she has raising the girl. At other times, Vorenza seems just an innocent child who simply needs some guidance. No matter which side of Vorenza you see, you will ask yourself: are you seeing the true Vorenza?

I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Red and the Wolf is short but worth the read. The book begins with a prologue which gives us a brief but important introduction to the story line. The characters are rich and well described and it would have been good to have heard more on some of them, particularly from the main character's babushka, who had more of the story to tell. I would have liked to have had more chapters to the story as the end seemed too soon. Overall a good read.

Red and the Wolf is a Red Riding Hood inspired story with an interesting twist throughout the book as well as the end. The struggles between the female protagonist's triangle between her lover and her grandmother was interesting as well. I would've liked to have seen more on what happened to the female protagonist in either a new chapter or an epilogue, but I guess the author wanted to leave the ending for readers to guess. Definitely a story for older readers and/or for those who like a quick read of the paranormal.… (plus d'informations)
