Intriguing, potent messages and tension make this an interesting thriller.

Matt finds himself hunted by a very powerful group, who has more than disturbing plans for the future of the country. Through an encounter with a man named Tanner, Matt discovers the real intentions behind a new movement named CleanSweep, which has taken a strong hold in the government and life. After unveiling the conspiracy in his blog, Matt, along with several other people, find themselves running for their lives while trying to reveal the group's true goals.

The opening scenes pack tension pure and demand attention. Although the reader knows little about Matt during these pages, the situation he finds himself in is so grabbing that it's hard not to get caught up in his tale. But this isn't only a story about Matt. As the plot unfolds, a small group of people stand next to him and are ready to stand at his side.

The author is a talented writer and knows how to thread an intriguing plot together, insuring the background information as well as scenes sit perfectly as a puzzle. The tale is well thought out and the messages behind it clear.

Many moments of high tension sprinkle the pages as the reader follows Matt as he tries to remain out of Claussen's clutches while attempting to find a way to expose the evil group for what it really is. While these moments are simply a joy to read, there are more dry moments in between, where information comes across thick and heavy. The logic behind the master villain's plans is delivered in clear text, keeping things from getting confusing but also losing a little in the way of tension and pacing. Flashbacks are used in the story which allow the layers of intrigue to come to light at just the right time, but unfortunately, there's never any notation to let the reader know that a scene is indeed a flashback. This causes quite a bit of confusion at times.

The characters are easy to love or hate. Matt and those at his side are simple to root for as they find themselves in one dangerous situation after the next, and yet, still try to expose Claussen and his plans. Claussen radiates all that is terrible and unjust. All of these characters, however, lack a little on depth.

All in all, this is an interesting read with tension and intriguing layers. Especially toward the end a few surprises await and invite to dive into the next book.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.

Don’t believe in conspiracies? Read on and you may change your mind.

The Cleansweep Counterstrike: A Matt Tremain Technothriller by Chuck Waldron is Book 2 of the Dystopian World Chronicles. You do need to read The Cleansweep Conspiracy first.

Matt Tremain is the journalist who exposed Charles Claussen’s Cleansweep Conspiracy knew he had a bullseye on his back.

Carling is a police officer that goes above and beyond his duty, but making up the rules as he goes along. Good thing he is by Matt’s side.

Charles Claussen had planned his escape, but never thought he would have to use it. Now, he was planning his revenge.

I love the old man, Sid. He has a reason to join the party, which I can’t tell you. He has nothing to lose. He is a Korean vet with some very worthy friends that want in on the action.

Hunter or prey? Depends on who’s telling the story.

Charles Claussen better prepare, because I see a world of hurt coming down on him.

We go around the world…by plane, train and automobile, in this action packed technothriller. Bullets fly, someone is kidnapped, death abounds. The question is…who will be left standing?

BUT…the story is not over. The fight will rise to a new level in The Cleansweep Consequences.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of The Cleansweep Counterstrike by Chuck Waldron.

As I mentioned with my review on book one, for some reason as much these books have plenty of action and intensity, I struggled to connect with the story as well as Matt and Charles. However, there was something about this book that the "lights" came on. I was able to jump right into the story and read it with more speed.

The dynamics between Matt and Charles was better appreciated. Kind of like a game of cat and mouse. At times both were the mouse. Although, I will say that while Charles may have been more powerful, his anger kind of clouded his judgment with Matt and left him seeing one side. Overall, I did like this series. If you are in the mood for something different, than check out these books.… (plus d'informations)

In regards to techno thrillers, this is a good one. It had the futuristic vibes. The dynamics between Matt and Charles were a bit intense. Yet, I will say that the intensity built up and grew stronger as the story progressed until the end when it left the reader hanging on for book two. Yet, to be honest, I struggled to find a strong connection to either Matt or Charles. They were both strong men in presence but at times I dozed off.

Mr. Waldron does bring the action as well as the intensity. I will give him that as the story kept moving along nicely. Back to the techno thriller aspect of the story. There was some unbelievability to the story but that is what kind of makes this type of thriller. I will say that I did read book two and a switch was flipped and I liked that book better.… (plus d'informations)
