This wordless picture book is a gripping story of a family’s preparations for a storm. From boarding up the windows, to the decision to evacuate, the depiction of devastation and the process of restoring their home is riveting.

A bit disappointing in that the house is rebuilt and the reality (that we can't keep building homes in harm's way) is conveniently absent.

This is a wordless book using pictures to describe a storm that ruined a family's house. They planned on staying, but when the storm gets too bad they leave in a hurry. When the family returns home, their house is in ruins, but they eventually rebuild an even more beautiful home. I picked this book because I feel it's very relatable to the region we live in. A wordless picture book guaranted to generate discussion and questions. I felt the happy ending came a bit quickly (perhaps an additional spread showing the inside destruction, and an obvious turn of season in the final spread would have helped) but otherwise it is stunning and engaging.
