The Making of a Garden par Rosemary Verey
die Entstehung eines der bekanntesten englischen Gärten (eine Ikone der Goldregengang mit Zierlauch unterpflanzt), der vieles in Bewegung setzte: das jetzt Knotengärten und Potagers viele Gärten schmücken, ist (auch) auf Verey zurückzuführen. eines der allerersten Bücher zum Thema, und noch immer eines der besten, wie ich finde. Schwerpunkt natürliche Gestaltung.
The author notes the inadequacy of words to describe scent, and the fact that although we word the deaf and blind, we have no word for one who has lost the sense of smell. Although not as necessary, the sense is filled with variety and wonder.
The text is rich in botanical lore and history, with many color photographs and drawings. Entire sections are devoted to Roses; Annuals biennials and perennials; Bulbs, corms and tubers; Herbs; Shrubs, trees and climbers; and Fragrant exotica.
