A Wonderful Week , by Marjolein Varekamp, is a cute concept book featuring a pig, a mouse and a frog and how they spend the days of the week. The days of the week are given a double-page spread and are the only word on the left side of the page ("Monday"), while a brief description of what the three friends do on each day is found on the right side of the double-page spread ("is for making a fresh start."). This oversized picture book features detailed color pictures of pig, mouse and frog's daily activities around the farm. The text is very large and found at the bottom of each page in the white boarder. The large pictures are centered in the double-page spread with generous white boarders. After each day is presented there is a page entitled "Let's talk about..." and it provides 12 set of questions which cause the reader to further examine the details in the pictures and to think about the daily events in his/her life. "After a busy week, Pig, Mouse and Frog love to relax on Sundays. What do you do on Sundays? Who in your family wakes up last on Sundays?" The final pages in the book are the "Journal of the Week" which again provide the days of the week and an activity of what the three friends did, "Thursday I sang sweetly in the chorus." but the size of the pictures and words are on a smaller scale.… (plus d'informations)
