A review I wrote in 2020:

Maresi Red Mantle (The Red Abbey Chronicles 3) by Maria Turtschaninoff, translated into
English by A. A. Prime

The conclusion to the Red Abbey trilogy and a continuation of Maresi’s story begun in book 1.
Maresi has left the abbey to return to her homeland of Rovas and the village where she spent the
first nine years of her life. She has learned so much at the abbey - she reads, writes, has learned
so much about history, folklore, tradition, the earth and nature, healing and herbalism and her own
spiritual powers. She undertakes the long and challenging journey home to spread her knowledge
and learning and found a school for girls in the rural community where she grew up.

Still just a teenager herself, Maresi has much still to learn about herself and about humankind.
She has been isolated from men from her childhood, except for some terrifying experiences on
the island, so she has many fears to overcome. She has also changed a lot in her time away; will
her family and old friends be able to accept this changed Maresi? Can she carve a niche for
herself and build the trust necessary for gaining pupils for her planned school?

A powerful conclusion to the trilogy. A phenomenal tale of sisterhood, spiritualism, love and
tolerance, acceptance and courage. A story of humanity. Everyone should read the Red Abbey
Chronicles.
