Things I love about this book:
>super shy Scottish MMA fighter hero - hella swoony and a pleasant surprise subversion of the alpha protector trope
>diverse representation of characters - race, size, personality, taste, all of it! one of the biggest reasons I adore this author
>strong group of female friends for the main character

Things I didn't love about this book:
>I couldn't get past just how desperately Payton needed therapy (instead of sex) to help her overcome her trauma. Yes, Braedyn is patient and perfect and irresistible, but not enough for their sexy times to ever be truly sexy to me.
>Whenever virginity is a key plot-point it's a huge turn-off to me, especially when losing it is even a little painful. Everyone's tastes and experiences are different, but this is one of my very least favorite tropes.
>Too many illogical decisions or deus ex machina plot points especially regarding the stalker conflict made it impossible for me to suspend my disbelief overall.

Overall
I'll keep reading this series because I love this author. Even though this one didn't do it for me, her skill in bringing a diverse cast of characters to life surpasses any reservations I have regarding tropes or plot.

I like to browse the Kindle Unlimited book titles and the suggestion I get. So "Rock the Curves" had a cover that looked interesting, and I read the summary. I knew right away that "Rock the Curves" is the right book for me, and I loved it. This book is my first Twyla Turner. I picked up, and it won't be the last one.
Lyris is a big beautiful woman, but haters have her doubtful. She's a black, thick Rock & Roll Soul singer. And labels only see what she's not, instead of her beauty & what power her voice & sound hold. So she's struggling to hold on as she pursues her dream. Gage is a man who's come along way from the overweight, pimple-faced, stuttering kid who was taunted and bullied until his mom used his passion for singing to help change his life. Then one day after releasing the weight & stutter, he found his way on stage and sang his way into stardom.
This storyline kept it so real about bullies, fear of rejection, society pressures of perfection & even online media madness. The jealous other woman is also real too. Society can be so mean at times. I enjoyed reading the chemistry that developed between the main characters as they fall in love. Of course, the path to true fulfillment is never easy. There was no cheating and beautiful HEA

I liked that both of the characters were shy. I liked that the attractive muscle bound man was attracted to a curvy girl. I liked that he had transformed himself from an overweight teen to an elite athlete. Both had interesting back stories and loyal friends. All those things I liked, but for some reason they didn't resonate fully and it was just good but not great. I skipped a lot of the steamy stuff because I thought they were so cute without needing to read that. 3 stars

Romance between a curvy photographer and a firefighter/model who meet when she comes across him after he crashes his motorcycle. She has been unlucky in love and he is engaged to a woman who just wants to be seen with the "perfect" man. There are some deeper discussions about insecurities, past disappointments and traumatic upbringings, but they don't go as deep as they could have in order to enrich the story. There is a good amount of steam (which I skimmed over) and one incidence of cheating which I feel I should mention. The story would have been good without the sex (especially the cheating) because the idea behind the story and characters were interesting on their own.… (plus d'informations)
