The fourth instance of the Nick Stryker series, Wrong Exit, can be read on its own. And yes, reading is no problem in this high pace crime fiction story in which detective Nick Stryker is fed with a sequence of bizarre homicide cases in Chicago. Vital organs missing from a murdered family in a brewery. Three people turning themselves in claiming they shot Nick Stryker...while he's alive and kicking, hearing out these confessions of a murder that wasn't committed. Nick and Jen, together with the cops are after the shooters of the family, bound by the rules their boss sets, while Kevin, a reporter, and the three innocent 'Stryker' shooters use their freedom to search for the same thugs. Will their lines cross, and justice be done?

High tech is exploited in their pursuit, ranging from GPS scramblers, computers to erase surveillance camera feeds, and reading of GPS history to trace whereabouts of cars found at a local dump. I'll not spoil the plot and leave up to you as a reader to engage yourself in this great crime fighter narrative.

What a clever plot. Generally police procedurals and serial killer mysteries are dark, Dark, DARK! A little humor adds perfection to this mix. I can't wait to read book 2. This is a must read!

Take 5 trainee angels and an angel trainer blend them in an effort to help the FBI. Then add a tablespoon of CIA, a teaspoon of Navy and a teaspoon of National Guard and half a teaspoon of many other alphabet agencies, now pour them into the pan of New Orleans. Bake them for several hours of unstoppable action. Top it with voodoo and laugh out loud laughter. Now you have served Extreme Heat Warning.

Though this recipe is complex and has more tentacles than an octopus, and you may need a score card to try to keep up and prevent confusion. The above recipe will prevent you from setting down this book, instead you will be hooting with laughter by the time you are half way through it, and sorry when you come to the end.

I cant wait for book 3 from the Shallow End Girls Trilogy.

Casey Thurston is a book reviewer. The book she is reading at her desk this afternoon is boring. Just occasionally through the mind-numbing descriptive there is a nugget of interest, then nothing. Taking the book home to finish she is shocked her apartment has been broken into and that the events recorded in the book are played out inside her apartment. Afraid, she goes to the 107th Precinct to report the break in and meets Detective Nick Stryker. Stryker knows Casey has a serious problem, a stalker. When murder follows he must find the author.
When I sat down to read this book I didn't expect that I would have to finish before I could do anything else. This is a well-written murder mystery with many threads coming together. As this is the first in the series we are introduced to characters that I hope will continue to develop in future Nick Stryker stories.
