Feminism is the biggest problem with this book. besides the fact that she spend the whole book trying to prove that she is just as capable as any man, lilly is consistently portrayed as less smarter than mr. ambrose. Furthermore she is continually distracted from her train of thought by mr. ambrose's touch. She is protrayed as some silly, incompetent, hormonal female. I HATE THIS BOOK.
There's just so much wrong with this book that I can't put it all in here. So here is a list of the worst moments in the book:
- when the main character gets taken advantage of by her boss while she is drunk
- when ambrose said that he wishes lilly was his slave because then he could whip her?? (I mean seriously wtf)
- every time that the main character reinforces the idea that feminism = hating men
- the fact that ambrose continues to refer to her as a mr. even though she repeatedly asks him not to. It's so disrespectful and weird.
I just can't. This guy is not some modern day jane austen, he's just a man who can't seem to understand what feminism means.
