Esha and Kunal reunite after Kunal and Reha fail to renew the magic bond
The story in the previous novel ended with Esha in a rage at Kunal, who had left with Reha to renew the blood bond with the land. The attempt failed, because it was done without ancient artifacts in the wrong place on the map. Kunal is brought back to the Red Fort in shackles, but gradually wins back Esha's affection and becomes part of the rebel team again. The artifacts are located, but the lord ousted in the previous book raises an army to besiege the fort. Kunal kills him as he threatens Esha. The bond with the gods is renewed in a sunken city
I had enjoyed the two previous books, but delayed reading the third volume because I thought the story had been needlessly prolonged, and felt the same about this volume.

Final chapter in The Tiger at Midnight series by Swati Teerdhala.
Satisfying end to this epic adventure/romance saga with nods to Indian mythology/folklore.

Book 2 in the trilogy, continues the story of Esha and Kunal. We find out more about the magic, mythology and get loads and loads of intrigue and plotting.
I sort of got confused at the very end by all of the various factions and loyalties.
Hopefully everything will become clearer in Book 3. I'm ready to see how all the hopes, revenge and romances play out!

First in a trilogy, The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala is an awesome adventure tinged with fantasy and based in Indian history and myths. Esha and Kunal, one a rebel and the other a loyal soldier cross paths in their quests for revenge and truth.

This one reminded me of another fantasy series favorite, We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal.
