This book examines prejudices surrounding pregnacies where disability is involved through the lens of women's actual experiences. The majority of experiences are those where a child is diagnosed prenatally with a disability, however there are a number of stories from mothers with disabilities as well. While there are some interesting personal accounts in this book, and many descriptions of the arrogance of the medical community the book plays into the stereotype that only religious wingnuts elect to keep disabled children. I would also have liked to have seen a closer analysis of whether pain experienced particularly by those disabled children who had no hope of life beyond days was taken into account by their parents.

All in all, lovely personal accounts told by courageous women, but lacking in deeper analysis or a good essay to tie the stories together.… (plus d'informations)
