An account of the author's engagement with the Indian leadership, mainly his interactions with Jaswant Singh, the foreign minister in Vajpayee's cabinet. Written in a direct and easy style, the book gives a rare indide view on how India and the US navigated their often troubled relationship through the formidable shoals of the test nuclear explosions carried out by India and Pakistan, the Kargil conflict, terrorist attacks, and more.
