This book is William S. Burroughs but for sex/online dating/modern LA tinder culture instead of drugs.

Delicious Tacos is pretty vulgar, but he's also a great writer ("good writer, bad person", perhaps). This was a lot longer than his first book, and basically consisted of a bunch of blog posts, generally starting with his (dysfunctional, LA, Tinder/OKCupid, destructive) dating history, then AA, a somewhat-more real day job, and constant existential malaise. Maybe it says something bad about me that the only really "sad" story, aside from "wow, this is a horrible life of desperation", was the death of his cat at the jaws of a neighbor's pitbull. Overall a good read if you have a high tolerance for misanthropy.… (plus d'informations)

Delicious Tacos is the current-year Henry Miller, or at least is on his way to being so. Obscene, yes, but not off-puttingly so.

This was an interesting evolution from the author's previous disconnected collections of semi-autobiographical short stories/vignettes (evolved from blog posts) -- a short novel as main storyline told through these short stories, maybe 80% of which were connected to the plot, in a structured and engaging format.

Only the main character/narrator was fully fleshed out, but that was probably deliberate.

Overall, one of the better books I've read.

I consistently enjoy reading Delicious Tacos stories but prefer them in book form vs "live" on the blog -- much more suited to binge-reading. They range from raunchy to depressing to (very rarely) hopeful, but always well-written and insightful. The references to Dune (including books 2-6 and that they suck...), various aspects of Internet pop culture, etc., including a lot of "things you can't say", make these interesting. The other aspect which I find worth reading is he was basically an alcoholic, went to AA, and now doesn't drink, while still being a writer who writes about a lot of things a drunk would do or write about, so it's an interesting study in how addiction actually works in humans. I'd skip this if you're overly prudish or otherwise sensitive, but for someone who enjoys Twitter and memes and the general downfall of civilization, a great book.… (plus d'informations)
