1974 Pioneers and Profits: Land Speculation on the Iowa Frontier, by Robert P. Swierenga (read 22 Jan 1986) This was published in 1968 and I wish I had read it then--it would have made more enjoyable my examination of many abstracts--which I do not do any more now. This book talks more of central Iowa than of western Iowa, but, e.g., I remember often seeing Israel G. Lash's name in abstracts. He was from North Carolina and began investing in Iowa land in 1856. This book talks much of warrants and entries and things I did not really understand when I saw them in abstracts.… (plus d'informations)
