This book is about three African American brothers that need to get a haircut at their local library, Sam's. So their mother makes a note of how she wants their hair, and the boys leave. The mother does not want their afro to be cut so short, even though the boys would like to cut it short. They get stopped three times on their way to the barber, and get told to get a fade cut.
