It is 1861 in the High Sierras in California. Even here rumors of war create unrest. However, the gold must be mined and work continues. Lacy Butler received this healing gift when she was just a child, but failing to heal her mother, she feels the Lord has left her. But has He or has she just left Him?

Tempers run high, accidents happen and Lacy finds herself in an unexpected position. Will she help or will she run?

This early copy part of The Tender series was received as a gift with no expectations of a positive review. These thoughts are my own.… (plus d'informations)

I am by no means a nature girl, but there is something about a good story set in nature that sets my heart aflutter. Maybe deep down I wish I could be more of an outdoorsy type and so I live vicariously through stories like Yosemite Firestorm. Maybe that’s why the descriptions of the hikes were some of my favorite parts. I’ve never went on a real hike before, but I’ve always wanted to, and reading about the waterfalls and the other scenery inspired my imagination, and set the perfect tone for the story.

Let me just say, I can’t even imagine how terrifying a fire storm is! Tornadoes are scary enough, and I’ve dealt with a few in my lifetime, but when you add a fire component to it, it is almost unimaginable! I felt like I was right there on the mountain with Hayden and Livy, experiencing every spark, the chemistry between them smoldering as much as the embers from the fires, as well as the suspense from being chased by menacing bad guys, which never let up. I did feel like Hayden was way too hard on himself for his past “mistake” but I also loved his redemption story. The ending was perfectly sweet but overly predictable, which sadly kind of ruined it for me. I was hoping for a little twist that never came.

Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable read that would be the perfect weekend novel to get lost in. Strong characters, wonderful suspense, and picturesque backdrop, even if it is a little charred, and you’ve got yourself one entertaining story.

This one contains wow factor as fire is starting to surround on all sides and a plan of escape starts to become elusive. A firestorm would be extremely frightening and you will feel as if you are in the midst of it as you are quickly drawn into the story. Throw in other climbers that you are responsible for including some with injuries and villains setting more fires and you have nonstop action. I was glad for the romantic sparks that were flying to even out the story. I enjoyed this dangerous story that showed faith in the midst of it as Livy lived hers and shared with Hayden. It showed great courage on her part. I enjoyed this book.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

An exciting new book full of twists and turns!

Helicopter pilot TJ Baskins and border patrol officer Trace Leyton—two old friends with a complicated history—must work together against an arms-smuggling gang. Danger is an obvious and persistent presence throughout their story, and as it heightens, they must confront not only the truth for which they have been searching, but also whether the past can be overcome.

Throughout Tanya Stowe's Escape Route, I enjoyed my time with TJ and Trace. From the start, I was curious about their history and how they would handle this second chance. Of course, the action and suspense kept me turning pages, too—and hoping for the best! It all blends together well for an exciting and uplifting read. Fans of romantic suspense should be sure to add it to the TBR.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.
