This book is remarkable. This story is incredible. God is AWESOME! Through all we go through, the good and lots of bad, God is there for us. He has a reason for everything and learning to just lean on God and trust Him, to say “You are in control, I’m giving it all to You”, is an important lesson from this book. We don’t have fairytale lives, we may want them, we may dream of them, but we don’t have them. Our lives are messy. Some more than others. But this book, reading about Laura and Martin’s journey has encouraged me so much.

I heard her song, “Blessings” many years ago and it touched me. Now it has an even deeper meaning. They have been through so much and it was hard to read it because I can relate to much of it and know I’ve fallen short also, but I know that I’m not alone, there in the midst of all the pain is God. There’s hope for us because God does not leave us, we may feel like He has, but He hasn’t. This is a great book, I highly recommend it to everyone, but especially to anyone who is going through a hard time.

"When things get back to normal." How many times, in the past eighteen months, have you heard people say this? I know that I myself have said it far too many times to count! In this new book, So Long, Normal: Living and Loving the Free Fall of Faith, we are encouraged to turn away from what we've known and to say goodbye to our normal. Author Laura Story offers compelling reasons why we should let go of our safe, ordinary lives and venture into a new, unknown adventure, and she promises that God will be with us all the way! So Long, Normal is divided into three parts: Understanding Normal, Saying So Long, and Saying Hello; and she uses scripture, personal thoughts, and the stories of other inspiring people to convince us. I especially like that the book concludes with a list of questions that prompt us to dig a little deeper. It's Your Turn inspires us to 'say so long to normal and hello to God's glorious unknown.'

'If we can believe that God is writing a greater story, we may be able to move ahead without definitive answers.'

Laura Story is famous for composing songs that strengthen and encourage, and this book is certainly no different. Reading it is like talking to a friend, so grab a cup of coffee or a glass of iced tea, make yourself comfortable in your favorite reading spot, and prepare to be inspired, enlightened, and challenged! You may decide that normal isn't what you want after all!

I received a copy of this book from the author via FrontGate Media. There was absolutely no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with my friend Kayla. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 When God Doesn't Fix It by Laura Story. Life is messy, unmanageable, and chaotic. You have dreams, you have a plan, you have goals, but it takes one thing, one strange diagnosis from a doctor or one friend to let you down for it to change the way your dreams look. It isn't because God doesn't want you to have dreams it's because he wants you to find the blessings behind the chaos. Laura's story of brokenness is an inspiration for us to see that even when God isn't tieing up our lives with neat little bows there are lessons and blessings he is trying to get us to see. Sometimes fixing it just isn't part of God's plan. Laura's struggle is real for her, but not any less real than yours or mine. She struggles with faithlessness and questions no one has answers for just like you or I. Those questions are exactly what this book is about.
