What a great book! I am in awe of Colleen Story.

Daniel wakes up on a beach in LA, totally disoriented and having no idea how he got there, only remembering that something happened at his motorcycle stunt show. He also feels compelled to get to San Francisco to get his younger brother from summer camp. Then, he abruptly finds himself in Iowa, realizing no one can see or hear him, and unexpectedly runs into an old girlfriend in a restaurant. Unlike every one else, she can see and hear him, and she decides to help Daniel. How the story develops from here is a wonder to behold. A mix of ghost story and the supernatural, it is also above all the story of Daniel’s fierce love for his younger brother, and his attempts to rescue him from the hellhole of a home they grew up in. Heartbreaking and unputdownable, The Beached Ones careens from surprise to surprise, with an ending that came out of nowhere and nearly reduced me to tears.

My thanks to CamCat Books, and to Netgalley, for providing an ARC of this truly wonderful novel.

This started a bit strangely for me but I soon figured out some of what was going on with Daniel. This book is very compelling and hard to put down. I had to know more about Jolene, Brett and Tony. This is a tragic story and sometimes hard to read but it is written very well. There were many twists and turns that lead to a very good ending. I received a copy of this book from ireadbooktour for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

The Beached Ones is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by the talented writer, Colleen M Story. I found it to be an interesting and intriguing read. It is not from my go to genre, however, I thought it was refreshing to read something that has a unique storyline and different writing style. It has a few twists and turns that I did not see coming and had no way of predicting. I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen to Daniel next. It was interesting how the author used his flashbacks to tell his story. Though there were a few scenes I did not understand at first, I quickly was able to catch on and continue reading. All through the book, there was a lot going on: adventure, action, mystery and suspense. Overall, it was a great read for me that kept me entertained for a few hours on a cold and rainy day. I liked it.

I am giving The Beached Ones four and a half stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading paranormal and fantasy adult fiction. I will be looking for more books by the talented author Colleen M Story in the future and hope there will be more like this, as well.

I received a paperback copy of The Beached Ones from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

For readers who enjoy "elemental" books and books of different dimensions, then this is the book for you.

It is a bizarrely unique story about two brothers who develop a very close bond. The eldest is nine years older but has full care of his younger brother. The mom is a single mom who works the 'graveyard" shift.

This story about a very dysfunctional childhood reverts between past and present. It s slightly confusing and first, but as the story progresses, so does the clarification.

It is quite well-written and is very captivating. It brings various emotions to the "surface".

The scenes are very well-portrayed. The characters are varied and well defined. However, the significance f the Title is unclear. It doesn't really state anywhere why this is a meaningful title. It is very abstract.

It keeps the reader guessing, "What will happen?". until the very end.

Because of the slight confusion, I felt in varying places of the book, I offer a Three and a Half Stars rating.

This book was gifted me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.
