On a hot, humid day, as I was sorting through piles of books, deciding which to read, and which to give away, I came across this one. It is a delightful composite of various places and traditions found throughout New York City. Colorful illustrations bring the joy of the season to the reader. Starting with the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, which began in 1924, the reader journeys throughout the various streets and boroughs of New York, some of which I am not familiar with, challenging me to visit. The Flatiron District & Lower Fifth Avenue contains a unique shaped building, erected in 1902, this was one of the cities first sky scrapers.

From the New York Public Library, on to St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, The Plaza Hotel, and then my favorite -- The Metropolitan Museum of Art with the lavish display of the Angel Tree and nativity display in the Medieval Sculpture Hall containing an exquisite display of an eighteenth century Neapolitan angel and creche figurines, then on to Wollman Rink in Central Park, Lincoln Center's annual performance of the Nutcracker ballet, Radio City Music Hall's famous Rockettes who have performed since 1933, Madison Avenue and the joy of shopping, Decker Heights in Brooklyn where there are over- the- top decorations, and last, but not least Times Square with the infamous New Year's Eve celebration.

I very much enjoyed this gem of a book celebrating the magical city and it's many traditions.

Three Stars.

Being a quintessential New Yorker I can safely say who wouldn’t enjoy a reading a book which captures the essence of the Big Apple month by month, through each season of the year?
“New York in Four Season” by Michael Storrings does precisely that. Starting with fall and the month September we’re taken through the year stopping at each of the main holiday or event for each season. Mr. Storrings’ wonderful full color illustrations definitely adds to the flavor of each of his descriptions which encapsulates the items he’s chosen to write about; albeit I’d hoped they would have been slightly longer.

This book is definitely something all New Yorkers who love their city should read at least once; this includes all those who’ve moved away and miss the wondrous sights, smells and sounds of the New York City through the year. It is also a book which would be enjoyed by all those of really love New York, but unfortunately don’t live here.

This review has been for an ARC [Advanced Reader’s Copy] for the actual finished book which I’ve received through a GiveAway on GoodReads; and is my honest opinion for the book for which I’m happy to give it my 5 STARS.

Robin Leigh Morgan is the self-published author of “I Kissed a Ghost,” a MG/YA Paranormal romance novel.
