1979. Harriet’s inchoate longing for women reminded me of The Price of Salt, the Patricia Highsmith novel they made into the movie. Carol. There is if anything less sex. Or more mostly horrid sex with men, molestation, and not enough of her affair with Marcia Gold. I guess it gives a bit of the feel of realizing you’re a lesbian pre stonewall. Harriet grew up in Washington state, went east to Harwyn college, and moves to New York to pursue her career. It’s the late. Fifties or early sixties. Eisenhower and Kennedy are mentioned, but Kennedy isn’t president yet. It’s all rather intellectualized, but pretty cool I guess.… (plus d'informations)
