James Thomas Stevens is a member of the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation in upstate New York. Born in New York and raised between three reservations in Canada and the United States, he received a Gerald Red Elk Scholarship to attend the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa Institute.
