Fictionalized versions of Stephen's recollections about growing up on his grandparents' farm in New England with a bunch of his cousins on a small farm in New England.

Wow.......finally finished this book.....which i began on my January vacation, and it is now mid-March! Now, I am not going to put all the blame on the book, but that typical grip that books usually have leading me to grab them every chance i get just did not happen here. So......the book's main pull here is that it is about where i live in Maine, and is based on true events that took place here in the later 1800's. Great insight into life on a farm and the seeming unending work associated with farm-life. That was good. My book claims that these are the 'Greatest Stories of Farm Adventure Ever Written!".....I suppose i have maybe never read a book of farm adventure stories, but this claim seemed to fall a little flat for me. And again, my life has been somewhat hectic and the book should not be condemned just because i was busy.... Interesting unexpected references to Hannibal Hamlin, Maine's one-time Vice President under Abraham Lincoln of which i am very familiar......i liked that....... Basically, it was all somewhat interesting and informative and novel in its local connection, but I may have been overly excited by the cover blurbs....and i should know better.....so a 2.5 if not set in Norway, Maine, but a 3 is all I'll do. Now I feel bad......Oh, heck.....give it a try......if you don't like it, move on........there, I feel better!… (plus d'informations)
