Cult TV: The Comedies par Jon E. Lewis
Again, shows I watched and loved not listed. So I went to the net for comprehensive lists of American, Canadian, British television shows and found even there many of the shows I remember well are not on the lists while others equally obscure are on the list. A few of my missing favourites, The Finder, The Powers That Be, Robin's Hoods, UNSUB, The Yellow Rose, Casablanca, and others. It was a lovely morning and busy researching. I love that about books, something in a book will send me off on a search for a person, a subject, an object, a movie, a tv show, a book.… (plus d'informations)
I had not realized how much I loved Detective/cop shows. I watched so many over the years and even these days my only must see TV are Castle, Bones, NCIS and Rizzoli and Isles. Of course, as usual I was disappointed in the two books because several shows that I watched and loved were not listed. I am going to check and see if there is an updated version which brings the last twenty years of television into play but first on to the Cult TV Comedies.
At a time when I have more channels available than I know what to do with and am forever surfing looking for something to watch and finding nothing of interest....reading this was a trip back into my life of fabulous television...nostalgia at its best.
Being relatively sensationalist and anecdotal, this book presents a fair bit of what other sources name rumours and theories as fact. That aside, though, it is efficient and informative, making a compelling and interesting narrative out of the man's life.
