The pictorial history accomplishes its goal with an interesting choice of photos of players, managers, owners, and functionaries, all very thoroughly captioned. The main shortcoming is a paucity of action shots and the various stadia. Browns and Cardinals are both covered, with passing coverage of the Terriers, Negro Leagues, and sandlot ball. The author's prose is clear and workmanlike,; outright solecisms are confined to such contemporary ubiquities as his all too typical less/fewer confusion.

This is excellent history-doing. Well researched! A great job weaving in the hundreds of quotes from contemporary news stories and interviews while keeping the flow going.
