Sex and the City: The Movie par Michael Patrick King
2022 movie #66. 2008. In my quest to watch the top 10 grossing movies for each year since I was born requires that I sometime invoke the 20-min rule. If I can make it through 20 minutes, I can check it off my list. Barely made it with this one.
In most ways better than expected, and probably on a level with a number of the better episodes of the show, but as an ending to the series it feels a little tacked on, and not at all on par with the excellent series finale. (Of course, it is far superior to the second film ...)
The first season is extremely cringe-worthy, only barely made watchable by a strong cast and the occasional funny one-liner, but the show mades quick strides of improvement in the following years. By late season three, the show has gradually become a lovely, thoughtful drama about four funny women struggling with the many mundane problems of dating in their thirties. And it stays that way. The buy-in before the show hits its stride is quite steep, but if the premise otherwise appeals, it is probably worth putting up with.… (plus d'informations)
