This book is great in this area because you can hear page by page or in sections what parts are most important and why. Determining what is most important is going to be different for each child but that's what makes it so crucial about knowing your students and picking stories that interest them so they can determine the important parts. a sign could be most important or the convertible car, possibly a specific sale, it just depends on the children. Summary:
Anna and her family take a day off from school, job, and household work to pick apples for a days work. Since she is a year older from last year her goal is to fill her bin up with apples for her purple ticket to get punched with a half moon. She tells in detail her story how how to pick apples and how her day goes on in a days hard work picking apples.

My Response:
I really liked the pictures and how it came from a little girl's point of view how she seen the day with family and apple picking thru her eyes. It gives a good example of goal setting and determination to reaching it. I would however thought the author should've explained why they like to pick apples.

Classroom Extension:
1)Ask students what goals they may have for the day, week, or future.
2)How would they reach that goal.
