Book Title: Queens of Crime: True Stories of Women Criminals from India
Author: Sushant Singh, Kulpreet Yadav
Format: Paperback

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Queens of Crime: True Stories of Women Criminals from India ' is self-explanatory.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is a woman's face in red light and she has an abstract expression on her face. The image creates chills in the spine when seen after reading the title.

About the author(s):

Sushant Singh: A film and television actor, Sushant Singh hosted the crime-based reality show Savdhaan India for almost seven years. He is the honorary general secretary of the Cine & TV Artistes' Association. This is his first book.

Kulpreet Yadav: A bestselling author and motivational speaker, Kulpreet Yadav retired voluntarily from the armed forces to pursue a career in writing in 2014. He was the winner of the Best Fiction Writer for the 2018 award at the Gurgaon Literature Festival. He lives in New Delhi.

About the book:
This book is a collection of 10 short stories based on women criminals from India. The reasons for which those women committed the gruesome crimes are actually very depressing and shocking to read. The family issues due to economic reasons and such other, abuse, greed and sometimes lust are few main reasons behind every crime mentioned. Being a woman and portraying every role committing such crimes is a brave act in a way and also a ghastly step.

My review:
With a strong language and shocking facts, the book makes for an insightful read. It shows how some women powerful for all the wrong reasons have been in the world hugely which is dominated by men. The book is an interesting read where the role of woman in each of the 10 stories mentioned make the reader go wordless.

What I like:
1. The concept of bringing forward this book by the authors
2. It is also not to be forgotten to congratulate and Thank Mr.Sushant Singh to take up this initiative
3. The incidents stated are described very realistically
4. The effect of sudden economic barriers which create unrest and then ultimately leads to becoming a criminal are illustrated very coherently.

What I didn't like:
Nothing to be disliked as this is more than fiction books.

Characters:
The characters introduced in every story are very near to the real person. The balance and strength of the characters are appreciated.

Narration:
A very practical approach with a surreal experience is found with gripping narration.

Language & Grammar:
Very fine language with good vocabulary is found.

My Final Verdict:
Interesting, insightful and shocking book!

A lightning quick read of only 3 of the Indian military's overseas operations - Operation Cactus in the Maldives, Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka and Operation Khukri in Sierra Leone. The author has done a good job of bringing these stories out with inputs from those who were there.
