I listened to the audiobook and I do wonder if I would have enjoyed reading a print version more. I find Mary Wollstonecraft fascinating and this novel covers her life and journey as a woman and writer. I liked this book, but I've read others about Mary and overall I liked those more.

This mostly just made me want to read A Christmas Carol.

It's a very good thing that I knew the actual Carol to be full of hope, because the first 75% of this book was as bleak as they come. Such despair, and loneliness, and anger. Seeing Charles turn into a bitter, bitter Scrooge was quite painful.

But then, of course, there was the original Carol we were working towards. Very much the ending I had hoped for.

I really enjoyed this story. Read it right before Christmas, giving me a bit of a boost for the season.
