One of the last 'the USSR conquers the USA and a heroic (blank) has to free our country' novels, as the genre disappeared a few years later. Focused entirely on the action/adventure side of things. Very typical, and not terribly good except as a curiosity.

This book was an excellent mystery. It takes place shortly after the second world war. There is a murder that takes place in a hotel frequented by people of German extraction who had recently released from interment . The story is complex, the plot interesting and the characters are the icing on the cake.

It is hard to find books in this series written in the seventies but they are worth it. In this mystery Merle Capricorn is a Superintendent from Scotland Yard. The story is entertaining and fun.

Capricorn is now a Chief Superintendent and has a case involving gangsters. He is trying to apprehend the real killer before a family member of his own is charged. I liked the earlier books much better.
