Book Title: Primrose’s Curse: A Fairy Tale of an Audacious Girl
Author: Kiara Shankar
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Primrose’s Curse: A Fairy Tale of an Audacious ' is very innovative and attractive.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is an animated picture of a young girl, animals, and birds amidst a beautiful landscape.

Plot:
The story is about Primrose Fernetis, a 12-year-old girl in a quest to find the magical nectar that will cure her father's illness in the deep forests. Coming from a poor family, and being the breadwinner, Primrose is a responsible child and is ready to take up any task for the well being of the family. In this connection. she happens to meet the mystical animals from Mystopical and understands her role in making the world a happy place to live. The mystical animals seek her help in defeating an evil sorceress and hence save the Earth.

Thus begins their journey began. The journey is magical, adventurous, thought-provoking and colorful. Can Primrose along with her friends save the world? Read the book to unfold the mystery.

My review:
After many days, I got a chance to read on a children’s fiction. There is some magic in reading a children’s book. The main thing is that it lets you escape reality and makes you travel in time into the glorious childhood days. I felt the same while reading little Kiara's this magical journey. The new nomenclature used in naming the characters and places is very unique. There are some places where my mouth watered reading about various food items mentioned. Last but not least, to add more color to the story, there are cute illustrations of certain scenes that made the read really enjoyable.

Characters:
All the characters in the story are written in a very fascinating manner. The readers who are interested in reading the anime genre of books will relate more to the characters.

Narration:
A very engaging narration is found in the story. As the book is just about 144 pages, with its interesting narration the book is a definite page-turner.

Language & Grammar:
This is one of the best parts of the story. Perfect language and grammar are used. One of the finest books that I have read in recent times with great vocabulary is this and ironically happens to be a children's book.

My Final Verdict:
Get transported to a magical world

Book Title: Avocado the Turtle: The One and Only
Author: Kiara Shankar & Vinay Shankar
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Avocado the Turtle: The One and Only ' is unique and promising.

Book Cover:
The book's cover image is a cute and a young turtle with a beautiful and colourful background of the forest.

My review:
Kiara has done it again. This time she expressed some powerful feelings of an individual using the character of a young turtle, named Avocado.

A budding writer and a teenage,r Kiara has that personality that every girl child must develop. Through the character of Avocado here in this book she has focused on some essential things like:

1. Being different is not deviant but innovative. An innovative mind always tastes success.
2. Do not be a part of the herd-like every sheep, but mark your existence by raising the voice and in action.
3. Communication is crucial, and unless one initiates it, nothing can be achieved.
4. Accept the changes, adapt to the new environment and continue doing your best.

The above four points are taught either during leadership skills classes or motivational classes. Kiara has given her readers an insight into the most valuable management principles in a little story. As I always say, it is not the no. of pages that matter in a book, it is the content inside it that makes the difference.

What I like:
1. The story
2. The colourful illustrations
3. The warmth others give to Avocado
4. The unique naming convention of the characters

What I didn't like:
There is nothing to be disliked.

Characters:
The character of Avocado. The little turtle teaches fundamental life lessons, and this stands as the highlight. The central character is the inspiring aspect of the tiny story.

Narration:
A superb, engaging and colourful narration with inspiring words is found in the story.

Language & Grammar:
Subtle language with quality vocabulary and language constructs is found in the story.

My Final Verdict:
Little Avocado, the life master!

It’s a cute little tale with plenty of talking animals. Primrose is super polite all the time, which made her character feel a little odd to me. On the other hand, Primrose sets a good example for any kids reading the story as to how to behave around talking animals.

I like that the tale is a quest within a quest. Primrose wants to cure her father’s illness so she sets out to find a magical plant that may do the trick. But along the way, she learns of the evil Queen Evelyn and with her new animal friends, she must defeat this queen. Magic and adventure and perfect grammar permeate this story.

The end gives Primrose everything she set out to gain and then more. For me, this is where things fell apart a little. The memories of those that Primrose loves are altered to make room for this new magical reality. Primrose is also sworn to the highest secrecy concerning the talking animals, swearing to keep the secret even from her parents.

SPOILER WARNING

So now Primrose has a resurrected mom (who had died years ago) and a healthy dad. Both her parents and all those that know her parents have had their memories altered, removing any hint of Primrose’s mom’s death.

END SPOILER

The rewards were piled on to high to keep the story going for me. Plus, altering memories can be a bad thing in and of itself. All told, it was mostly a fun, light-hearted adventure. And who doesn’t love talking animals? 4/5 stars.

The Narration: Laura Welsh did a great job with this book’s narration. I love all her voices for the talking animals. She also has the perfect 12-year-old girl’s voice for Primrose. All character voices were distinct. The pacing was perfect. There were no tech issues with the recording. 5/5 stars.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Vinay Shankar. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
