Critiques
This is my first book by author Jill Shalvis, which is surprising since she’s written more novels than I can easily count. And it was a great introduction to her writing. Yes, it’s chick-lit, a romance, a small-town drama with quirky characters and a theme of found family. But it’s also well-written, with three-dimensional characters, humor, and heart. All the characters were likable, the romance was sweet, the plot and the threat to the world Shalvis has created were believable and kept me turning the pages.

I had the hardest time trying to rate this book, I kept changing my mind whether it was three or four stars. There was nothing horrible with it, it was decent, I just didn't enjoy it for whatever reason. I really didn't like the ending, so finally three stars.
This is a good book, apparently #4 in a series of which I've not read 1-3. I didn't feel lost in the least not having read 1-3.
Piper has raised her siblings after their parents died and she now feels ready to live her life. She is an EMT and wants to go to college and sell the cottage where she lives currently. On her birthday, both of her siblings come home and that throws her into a tailspin. They are keeping secrets from Piper but she is also keeping her desire to sell the cottage from them.
When she meets Cam, who is the son of her neighbor, she is immediately drawn to him but fights those feelings.

Heartbreaker Bay series #2. Contemporary romance, romantic comedy. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Willa Davis owns and runs a pet store which includes day care and specialized products. When Keane Winters knocks on the door with a noisy cat, she can’t help herself from caring for the animal even though she’s mad he doesn’t remember her from their high school days. Keane is taking care of the cat for his great-aunt for a few weeks and he needs help. Fortunately Willa has a big heart and steps in multiple times. As they get to know each other, the sparks fly. Making a Christmas wish at the fountain may be lucky this time for Willa.
Kind of adorable with humor and lusty feelings. Comedic relief provided by the cat. Some steam for the romance and an hea for a feel good holiday escape. Loved it.… (plus d'informations)
