This book explains what sharks are and their size differences. It explains different parts of what make a shark. It explains how they use different parts to survive. It then explains how sharks hunt for their food. Lastly it explains how sharks eat. It describes how different types of sharks have different teeth. This book is a good informational book because it describes accurate knowledge about sharks.

I enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was a great and easy description of Jackie Robinson's life without being too difficult for young readers. It explained how African Americans were discriminated against at the time and how this affected Jackie Robinson personally. It contained shocking information tat may grab a reader's attention such as explaning how at first, fans threw things at him on the field and some of his own team mates did not respect him. Robinson was an extremely talented player who's story deserves to be told. I thought this book presented it perfectly. The overall message readers can take from this is that no matter what obstacles you may encounter, if you keep working hard and become the bigger person, your talent will shine through and you will be successful.… (plus d'informations)

Summary: This book shows the process in which a salmon evolves from an egg to the different stages of life.

Personal Reaction: This offers a lot of information in very basic detail. It gives the reader some insight on how salmon live, reproduce, and grow. I thought it was a great book for young readers that want to know just a little bit about salmon life. I feel that some students may lose interest if it were read aloud in a group setting.

Classroom Extension: Use Goldfish for a counting game. Have the children count by 1, 2, 5, and 10.

Have a writing activity using sentence prompts. Example: The fish has...., Salt water is...., Fish can....

There are two reasons why I like this book. The first reason is because of the illustrations. It has pictures of each shark the book talks about and has pictures showing the vocabulary. For example the book talks about a sharks gills and in the illustration it has an arrow pointing to the shark’s gills with the word above it so the reader knows that word is. Another reason why I like this book is because of the language. It has words in there that readers won understand, but they take the time to explain what it is in a clear and understanding way. In the book they talk about shark’s cartilage and then explain that cartilage is light and rubber and lets sharks bend their bodies to swim. The pictures and figures in this book are clear and it even has a glossary in the back of the book. The main idea of this book is for readers to learn about different types sharks, different parts of sharks, and how they live day by day.… (plus d'informations)
